Parcel Theft Prevention |
||
|
We have received two reports of unattended parcels being stolen from doorsteps in Pinner.
This type of opportunistic theft is particularly common during busy online shopping periods, such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the Christmas season.
Please follow the advice below to reduce the risk of your parcel ending up in the wrong hands:
• Track your parcel to ensure that you, or someone else, is at home to receive the delivery. • Install a video doorbell. These can be connected to your mobile phone, allowing you to receive instant notifications when a delivery arrives, and are often easier to install than a full CCTV system. • Install security lighting around your property. • Arrange for your parcel to be delivered to a trusted neighbour or family member who will be at home. If you live in a block of flats, consider whether a concierge or building manager can accept deliveries on your behalf. • Use an off-site parcel locker for frequent deliveries or valuable items. These lockers are often located in busy, well-lit areas, such as supermarkets, making them less attractive targets for thieves.
If you witness suspicious activity or have information relating to parcel thefts in your area, please report it to the police. | ||
